About the prize

The 9th edition of the National Super Bock / Serralves Creative Industries Award aims to find new ideas and national businesses that combine creativity and entrepreneurship with innovation. As in previous editions, Super Bock and the Serralves Foundation seek to welcome, evaluate and distinguish Portuguese products, services and brands that contribute to the economic and social development of the country.

In this edition, the jury will award, for the first time, three pecuniary prizes, in the amount of € 15,000, € 7,000 and € 3,000, respectively. The winning projects will be selected among the four categories of the Prize: Architecture and Visual Arts, Music and Performing Arts, Content and New Media and Tourism and Heritage. As in previous years, the big winner will represent Portugal at the largest international competition in the creative industries area, the Creative Business Cup, which will take place in Copenhagen in November.

Among the new features of the 9th edition is the first Born from Knowledge award under the auspices of the National Innovation Agency, which seeks to distinguish among the 10 finalist projects the best example “born of knowledge”, that is, Scientific and / or technological knowledge of the promoters, collaborating or not with entities of the Scientific and Technological System (SCT).

Among the advantages for the finalist projects are the access to a training program for entrepreneurship, a team of mentors (who will support the development of the business case) and a network of contacts, as well as the possibility of integrating The Incubator of the Youth Foundation and attract national and international funding.

The selection process, in the various phases of the competition, will have a technical committee that will support the jury, composed of representatives of Super Bock / Unicer and the Serralves Foundation, as well as the partners of the initiative – ADDICT, the National Innovation Agency , ANJE, BPI, ESAD, the Youth Foundation, IAPMEI, the Brand New Box, the Catholic University – School of Arts and the University of Porto.

Last year the big winner was Noocity, a startup dedicated to developing equipment for urban agriculture. Companies like Miss Can, Uniplaces, Musikki or Hole 19 are part of the history of the competition, which has supported more than 70 projects in a sustained way out of a total of 2,072 applications received since the first edition in 2008.

All citizens over the age of 18 (individual or group), as well as small and micro-enterprises in the expansion phase with their head office in Portugal, can apply for the National Bock / Serralves Creative Industries Prize.
