Tax incentives for Business R&D

The period of submission of applications for SIFIDE (System of Tax Incentives for Business R & D) is running until July 31.

The applications refer to the fiscal year 2016 and allow companies with Research and Development (R & D) projects approved in Portugal 2020 to submit an application to SIFIDE through the presentation of the expense associated with the projects, in their part not reimbursed by the Program.

In force since 1997, this system allows companies to deduct a certain amount from the collection for the expenses incurred in R & D activities.

This is a tax credit that, due to insufficient collection, can be used in the next 8 years.

In force since 1997, this system plays a central role as an instrument for enhancing the business R & D effort and is a key factor for competitiveness and long-term growth.
