Applications are now open for the 11th edition of the UPTEC School of Startups – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto. Entrepreneurs who have an idea in the areas of arts, science, technology, health and environment can now enroll in the UPTEC program, which this year has the support of LIPOR.
Escola de Startups is a three-month acceleration program that aims to help entrepreneurs turn an idea into a company. Through workshops on business model, intellectual property, pitch, team, communication, investment and much more, participants have the opportunity to perfect and improve their business idea. Entrepreneurs will also have specialized mentoring sessions, the possibility of working in UPTEC spaces and access to networking with partners, investors and entrepreneurs.
The Startup School “has been a fundamental milestone in the support of UPTEC to the new ideas that are emerging”, reveals Maria Oliveira, Business Director of UPTEC. “We try to give each entrepreneur all the necessary tools so that he can transform his idea into a business. Our goal is that entrepreneurs are prepared for all the challenges of creating a company”, she says.
Projects that seek to have a positive impact on the environment and participate in the UPTEC School of Statups can also be present at ClimateLaunchpad, the largest competition for cleantech business ideas in the world. With the support of LIPOR – Intermunicipal Service for Waste Management in Greater Porto, some of these projects will also be able to attend the Startups School free of charge.
After 10 editions, 186 supported projects, 452 participants and more than 70 new companies created, the UPTEC School of Startups is looking for new ideas. Participation costs 300 € + VAT. Applications are now open and can be made here until March 8.
