This initiative aims to provide access to venture capital investment by science and technology-based projects in the Seed and Start-up phases. Through previous editions of Call For Entrepreneurship, Portugal Ventures has invested in 60 startups with the ambition to become companies of excellence worldwide. Applications may be submitted from August 1 to September 8, 2016.
Information Technology and Communication Projects, Electronics & WEB, Life Sciences, Tourism and Endogenous Resources, Nanotechnology and Materials are eligible for investment through Call For Entrepreneurship. The projects selected by Portugal Ventures will benefit from an investment of up to 750,000 euros, at a maximum of 85% of total investment needs.
In the preparation and qualification of the projects, entrepreneurs can benefit from the support and guidance of one of the entities of the Ignition Partners Network, among which is LISPOLIS, which helps to enhance their suitability for Investment. All applications are submitted through the website of Portugal Ventures.
Candidate projects will be evaluated through the use of evaluation panels, divided by industries, composed of national and international business experts, as well as investors from Ignition Capital Network, Business Angels and other Venture Capital. -Investing with Portugal Ventures in projects. Portugal Ventures will select for investment the projects that demonstrate the greatest growth potential and capacity to become world-class start-ups.
The projects invested will benefit from expert advice, preferably international, with accumulated experience and a vast network of relevant contacts. These projects also have the potential to be incubated and accelerated in the centers of the Portuguese technological entrepreneurship ecosystem in San Francisco, Boston, Austin, Berlin and London.
During the fifteen editions of Call more than 3100 entrepreneurs registered on the website of Portugal Ventures, resulting in the presentation of more than 1000 applications. For the generation of this dynamic, the support and involvement of the Ignition Partners Network was made a priority, composed of 48 national and international entities of the science and technology-based entrepreneurship ecosystem, among which is LISPOLIS.
Call For Entrepreneurship is the entry point for the Ignition Program, an initiative led by Portugal Ventures. Its objective is to strengthen the Portuguese eco-system of technology-based entrepreneurship and thus contribute to the development of a more modern, competitive and open economy for the world, based on knowledge, innovation and highly qualified human capital with a strong spirit entrepreneur. Through this initiative, Portugal Ventures intends to invest around 20 million euros per year.
