E-Commerce Experience launches in Portugal

Portugal will win its first E-commerce training and development program. The E-Commerce Experience – global program for e-commerce – will be expanded to Europe from July 2018.

“Stimulating the development of e-commerce in Portugal is one of our main objectives. The country can and should think of the European continent as a potential consumer, “says Vanessa Caldas, founder of the E-Commerce Experience.

But what is the E-Commerce Experience? It is the first global program of promotion, training and acceleration of E-commerce that aims to help participating companies to set up and optimize E-commerce operations. In the edition that took place in São Paulo, Brazil, participating companies grew 200%.

And what will be the 2018 edition in Lisbon?
● 25 meetings – the program will take place in Lisbon, at LISPOLIS.
● Mentoring, lectures, workshops and technical visits of the main companies in Portugal, Brazil and other countries; more than 40 topics covered by the most experienced professionals.
● Roving and public events.
● Matchmaking with Portuguese and Brazilian retail / industry companies.

The group of participants in Portugal will be formed by twenty companies, with ten companies of great reference in the Portuguese market – among them the ones already selected OLX, Worten, O Boticário, Quem disse, Berenice, Science4you, Sacoor, Salsa and Delta Cafés.. There are also 10 places for SMEs that want to participate: they can apply on the website of the program (www.ecommerceexperience.co) from July 16.

Positioning itself as a different program from startup programs, the E-Commerce Experience focuses on companies that already know the market, but still face some challenges in the digital world.

Among the partners that will help develop and market the market in Portugal are AICEP, LISPOLIS – Polo Tecnológico de Lisboa, Google, E-Commerce Brasil, Bright Pixel, Beta-i, Câmara do Comércio e Indústria Portuguesa, ChronopostAmazon AWS, SEMrush, L.digital, U5 Marketing, Dinamize and Hedgehog.

“Portugal has challenges very similar to those we saw in Brazil five years ago. E-commerce is a no-return path. The Portuguese companies that are not convinced of this will be behind “, reinforces Vanessa.

E-commerce is a way for companies, whether traditional industry or retail, to increase their sales exponentially, gain new customers, test new markets with a considerable reduction of risks and costs as well as export efficiently to other countries. In Europe this market is estimated at 534 billion euros, according to data from 2017, and is estimated to reach 602 billion in 2018. In Portugal, the market is worth 4.6 billion euros, since only 39 % of the population buys online, while in the United Kingdom, where there is Europe’s most developed e-commerce market, the online buying population is over 87%. But the most striking fact is that 80% of the Portuguese who buy online do it on sites outside of Portugal!

E-commerce is an entirely new world that can not be seen as a test but as a strategy. There is a lot to be developed and it takes training and investing in technology, always with the lowest possible risk. And for the Portuguese to buy online it is necessary for Portuguese companies to start selling online!
